Reddish Vale Farm's pumpkin patch opens 10 October, Bramall Hall's £3 witch's trail starts on the 22nd and Merseyway's carnival on 24 October is free.

Halloween 2026 falls on Saturday 31 October, the last day of Stockport’s October half term, and the borough has more on than a quick search suggests. The pumpkin patch is at Reddish Vale Farm, open daily from 10 October. The best-value trail is Bramall Hall’s £3 Witch’s Potion Trail. The biggest free event is Merseyday of the Dead in the town centre on Saturday 24 October. Everything below is from the organisers’ own pages, checked on 3 October.

The pumpkin patch: Reddish Vale Farm

Reddish Vale Farm, on Reddish Vale Road (SK5 7HE) inside the country park, runs its Halloween Pumpkin Festival from Saturday 10 to Saturday 31 October, 10am to 4pm. You collect a wheelbarrow and pick from the patch, then take your pumpkin to the Carving Cavern, where the farm says “we’ll clean up the mess”. The day also includes wand making, Halloween games, a witch and wizard magic show, roaming characters and a Jack Skeleton meet, on top of the farm’s usual animals, indoor play barn and bouncers.

Several things cost extra, and the farm marks them clearly: the pumpkins themselves (“price varies by size and variety”), tractor rides, marshmallow toasting, the fairground rides, the corn cannon and animal feeding. Budget for more than the entry ticket.

The farm’s other Halloween sessions:

  • Midweek Halloween offer: Monday 12 to Wednesday 14 and Monday 19 to Wednesday 21 October, 11am to 2.30pm.
  • Moonlight Pumpkin Evenings: Saturday 17, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October, 5pm to 8pm. A lit pumpkin patch, an after-dark nature trail, fire and LED performers and live music.
  • Sanderson Sisters Special: Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, 5pm to 8pm, themed on Hocus Pocus.

Prices are only shown inside the farm’s booking system, so we have not printed them. The farm’s FAQ says online tickets are cheaper than paying at the gate, that walk-ins are “subject to availability” and special events can sell out, that last entry is an hour before closing, and that dogs are not allowed apart from assistance dogs. Carers can get a free Essential Companion ticket with a Nimbus Access Card or the farm’s own Digital Access Pass. Parking is free.

The Witch’s Potion Trail at Bramall Hall

Bramall Hall’s half-term hunt has a rhyme for a brief: “Batilda the witch fell from her broom, scattering ingredients in every room!” Children find the ingredients to make a potion “for Halloween night” and get a small prize for a full set. It is recommended for ages 3 and up.

  • Dates: Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 October, then Tuesday 27 October to Sunday 1 November, 11am to 3.30pm. There is no trail on Monday 26 October.
  • Price: £3 per trail, one child per ticket, and every child must be with an adult paying standard admission.
  • Booking: Eventbrite adds a booking fee but fixes your entry time. Paying on the day at the visitor centre is face value, but the hall warns it “may sell out” or give you a later slot.

Merseyday of the Dead, Saturday 24 October

Merseyway’s Halloween carnival is back for a second year and it is free: 12pm to 3pm in Merseyway with a spooky trail, crafts and live music, then 5pm to 7pm at Redrock for a Day of the Dead parade. Merseyway says more than 1,000 families came last year and asks everyone to come “in your best costumes” (Merseyway). It is the Saturday before council half term.

Just over the border: Lyme

The National Trust’s Lyme, at Disley on the edge of the borough, runs Doors to Hallowtide from Saturday 17 October to Sunday 1 November, 10.30am to 4pm: an outdoor art trail of doorways with local folklore, old traditions and ghost stories. The Trust’s listing does not give a separate price, so check it before you go.

Crafts and smaller events

  • Monster Mugs, Saturday 10 October, 10.30am to 12pm, Merseyway Workshop, 6 Deanery Way, SK1 1PP. £17.50, ages 8 and up, adults stay but do not need a ticket. Children turn a half-made mug into “a marvellous monster”, which is fired and ready to collect a few weeks later (listing).
  • Saturday Snack Down: Halloween Spooktacular, Saturday 17 October, 12pm to 5pm, Stockport Market Hall. Free, no tickets (listing).
  • Halloween Crafty Kids Pop Up, Saturday 31 October, 11.30am to 12.30pm, Heald Green Library, Finney Lane, SK8 3JB. Free drop-in (listing).
  • For adults, Staircase House runs two craft sessions on Saturday 10 October: fabric pumpkins (10.30am, £15) and beaded spiders (1.30pm, £20), ages 16 and up, plus booking fee (pumpkins, spiders).

Halloween for grown-ups

  • Flecky Bennett’s The Stockport Plaza Experience, Wednesday 14 October, 7pm. The award-winning Stockport ghost walker takes on the Plaza. Strictly 18+, and the tour includes stairs (Plaza).
  • Halloween at the Movies, Thursday 22 October, 7.30pm, Stockport Town Hall. The Great British Film Orchestra plays The Addams Family, Beetlejuice, Hocus Pocus, Ghostbusters and more. £40 to £50 (listing).
  • Halloween In Concert, Sunday 25 October, 7.30pm, Stockport Plaza. A cast and live band play Monster Mash, The Time Warp and Bat Out of Hell, with a prize for the best costume (Plaza).
  • The Rock ‘n’ Horror Graveyard Show, Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, 8pm to 11.30pm, the Forum, Romiley. NK Theatre Arts’ cabaret is adults only, “not for those who are easily offended”, £22, with a late bar and disco (listing).

What there is not

No council-run Halloween event or trick-or-treat trail appears in Stockport Council’s events calendar for 24 October to 1 November. Bonfire night follows a week later: our fireworks page lists the displays now on sale, including Reddish Vale Farm’s on 5 and 6 November.

Getting there and parking

Reddish Vale Farm has its own free car park. For the town centre events, Merseyway, the Market Hall, the Plaza and Staircase House are all within a few minutes’ walk of each other; our parking in Stockport page has the car parks and this year’s tariffs, and the roadworks and travel page lists what is shut.

We will update this page as organisers add events. For everything else on in the next six weeks, see What’s on in Stockport.
