Only the Makers Market on 12 December and two Foodie Fridays are confirmed for Christmas 2026. The Victorian market at Stockport Market has no 2026 date yet.

Stockport’s Christmas markets are spread across Market Place, the Market Hall and Merseyway rather than concentrated into one big festive village, and as at 4 September only part of the 2026 calendar exists. Here is what is actually booked and what is not.

Confirmed for Christmas 2026

All three are on Market Place, SK1 1EW.

Foodie Friday is Stockport Market’s monthly street food night, on the last Friday of the month, with craft ales and live music alongside the traders. The December edition falls on the 18th rather than the 25th for obvious reasons, and the November one on the 27th. Entry is free. It is listed on the council’s events calendar by the organisers at skfoodiefriday.co.uk.

The Stockport Makers Market runs on the second Saturday of every month, so its Christmas edition is Saturday 12 December, with a November market on the 14th and the first of 2027 on 9 January. The organisers describe it as the North West’s food, drink, art, design and vintage specialists who “source, grow, rear, bake, make, and create the products they sell”.

The Victorian Christmas market has no 2026 date

The market most people mean when they search for a Stockport Christmas market is the Victorian Christmas at Stockport Market, held on the first weekend of December in Market Place. It has not been dated for 2026.

The most recent listing anyone can open is the 2024 one, and it is a good guide to what the market is:

  • Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 December 2024, 9am to 4.30pm, free
  • Fairground rides
  • A free meet and greet with Santa, including a gift
  • Choir and band performances
  • A DJ set, and a 12-day Christmas loyalty voucher launch
  • Festive stock from the market’s regular traders

The listing for 2025 has been deleted from the council’s site rather than updated, which is what Stockport does with past events. One Stockport’s event series for the Victorian Christmas market still resolves to its December 2024 occurrence whatever date you request, so there is no 2025 or 2026 record there either.

Merseyway has announced nothing festive

Merseyway Shopping Centre ran Christmas Markets presented as a Santa’s Village in 2024, trading daily up to 24 December, alongside its Giving Tree appeal, which the centre says delivered £120,000 worth of gifts across Stockport and Greater Manchester.

Its events page currently lists one upcoming event, the Moon Festival on 12 and 13 September, and nothing for Christmas.

When the rest will be announced

Stockport publishes its festive programme late. The council’s round-up of what is on at Christmas in the town centre went out on 26 November 2024, and its Spectacular Sunday release, which opens the season, went out on 13 November 2025. Expect the Victorian market date, the Merseyway markets and the Santa sessions to land together in the first half of November.

Two checks confirm nothing is being held back quietly. Stockport Council’s events calendar for 1 November to 31 December 2026 contains the Plaza pantomime, Christmas concerts, Town Hall party nights and the two Foodie Fridays, but no Christmas market. One Stockport carries 593 listings between 1 October 2026 and 10 January 2027, and the Makers Market is the only market in them.

We will update this page as the dates confirm. Before you travel in, check our Stockport parking page for the town centre car parks and the 2026 charges, and the roadworks and travel page for anything closed around Market Place.
