The Golden Hind on Lisburne Lane, shut since late 2023, reopens this autumn after a £1m Joseph Holt refit. New managers, a beer garden and the date so far.

Offerton is getting its pub back. The Golden Hind on Lisburne Lane, which has been shut since late 2023, will reopen this autumn after a £1 million refurbishment by the Manchester brewer Joseph Holt.

The brewery announced the investment on its Golden Hind page, published on 20 October. It says the work turns “a closed building into a warm, comfortable community pub”.

When it opens

No opening date has been announced yet. The brewery’s pub listing says “opening soon”, and the pub’s own Instagram account talks of a “late Autumn opening”.

The pub is running a competition for a VIP package at the launch. Entries close at 11.59pm on Wednesday 4 November. We will add the date here when the brewery confirms it.

What is being done

According to Joseph Holt, the refit includes:

  • a full redevelopment of the building inside
  • a mix of seating, “cosy nooks” and open space
  • a newly landscaped beer garden
  • a bar serving Holt’s cask ales, lagers and Trailblazer Stout, plus spirits, wines and soft drinks

The pub’s listing describes it as child friendly and dog friendly, and says it will serve coffee. Functions can be booked through the brewery’s website.

The new managers

Joseph Holt has named the new managers as Brian and Donna. The pub introduced them on Instagram with the line “a few of you may recognise them”.

They have already been out in the area. The pub says they supported the Fairway Five trail race in Offerton, with drinks donated by the brewery.

The pub held a recruitment day on 13 October for every team role. Its post said it was “a great chance to be part of reopening a pub with a fresh identity, standards and reputation from day one”.

The planning record

One application for the pub is still open on the council’s planning register. Reference DC/099521 seeks retrospective permission for a canopy on the front and side of the building. It was validated on 7 July 2026 and has no decision yet. Residents can still comment on it.
