Bonfire night 2026 falls on Thursday 5 November, and as at 4 September not one organised display in the Stockport borough is on sale. That is not a gap in our research. It is what every first-party source says.

Stockport Council’s own events calendar, filtered from 1 November to 31 December 2026, returns thousands of listings, right down to a Wednesday afternoon pantomime matinee on 30 December, and contains no fireworks or bonfire event at all. One Stockport, the town’s what’s-on site, returns 593 listings between 1 October 2026 and 10 January 2027 and none of them mentions fireworks either.

That matters because the council is explicit about its role. Its fireworks page, last updated on 25 August 2026, says: “We do not licence or organise firework displays or bonfires, but if we know about an event we’ll include them in our events calendar.” The calendar is the council’s own channel, and it is empty.

Marple Bonfire, Brabyns Park

The borough’s biggest community display is the Brabyns Park bonfire in Marple, run entirely by volunteers from 1st Marple Scouts and GirlGuiding Marple, with all proceeds going to Scouting and Guiding in the town. The 2025 event was its 54th and it sold out, with no tickets on the gate.

Its ticketing is the clearest signal. The organisers sell through Ticket Tailor, and their organiser page currently reads “No events currently listed”. The marplebonfire.co.uk tickets page still says “Sorry, we’ve SOLD out for 2025”.

There is one loose thread worth flagging rather than believing. The headline on the organisers’ home page now reads “Saturday 7th November” with no year attached, and 7 November is a Saturday in 2026. But the browser tab title on the same page still says “Marple Bonfire, Saturday 8 November 2025”, and the paragraph directly under that headline describes “our 54th Bonfire”, which was the 2025 event. One of those is stale, and nothing is on sale, so treat 7 November as unconfirmed until the organisers say so.

What the 2025 event looked like, from the organisers’ own pages, is a good guide to what to expect:

  • Gates from 6pm, bonfire lighting procession 7pm, fireworks 7.30pm prompt, lasting around 20 minutes
  • £9.50 adults, £6 children aged 5 to 15, under-5s free but still ticketed
  • Advance only. No gate tickets. Once sold out, official resale runs through Tixel
  • No sparklers, no personal fireworks, no alcohol brought on site, and bag searches on entry
  • No dogs. The organisers say the site is too busy, dark and loud for them

Bramhall Firework Festival, Stockport Rugby Club

The Bramhall Firework and Music Festival is held at Stockport Rugby Club’s Memorial Ground on Headlands Road, Bramhall SK7 3AN, and pairs two firework displays set to music with a main stage, a funfair and a food village. The 2025 event ran on Friday 7 November.

Its 2026 status is a plain no. The ticket link the club published, trybooking.co.uk/BFHR, now returns HTTP 410 with “The event is no longer available”, and the club’s news feed at stockportrugby.com carries no items at all. Stockport Mumbler’s 2025 round-up listed the gates at 5pm and prices of £13.50 for adults and £8.50 for children.

Useful detail that will not change: the club’s own event notes say there is no parking on Headlands Road, Wallbank Road or Walmer Drive, and that on-site parking sells out well in advance. Walk in via the Wallbank Road or Headlands Road entrances.

The three club displays

Three cricket clubs ran their own bonfires in 2025: Bredbury St Mark’s on Dark Lane, Hawk Green in Marple, and Stockport Cricket Club at Cale Green. The only record we could find for any of them is Stockport Mumbler’s 2025 round-up, which put Bredbury St Mark’s on Saturday 1 November from 6pm at £6.85 an adult and £5.27 a child, Hawk Green on Saturday 8 November from 6pm, and left Stockport Cricket Club’s date as TBC at £8 and £4 with under-5s free, paid on the gate. None of the three appears in the council’s 2026 calendar, and none has published a 2026 date we can verify. Treat them as unconfirmed rather than cancelled.

When the 2026 dates should appear

Both organisers announce late. Stockport Rugby Club posted its 2025 fireworks announcement on 29 September 2025, five and a half weeks out. Marple’s tickets have gone on sale earlier in past years, but sell out, so the list to join is the organisers’ own.

We will update this page as each display confirms. If you are planning around it, the practical dates to watch are the last week of September and the first week of October.

Getting there and parking

For Marple, the organisers ask people to walk or take the train: Marple station is a two-minute walk from the main entrance on Brabyns Brow, opposite the Midland pub, and buses stop at the station too. There is no parking inside Brabyns Park on the night, and parking restrictions are enforced on surrounding roads. The nearest council car parks are Marple station (SK6 7DA, two minutes) and Memorial Park (SK6 6BD, five minutes), and both fill early.

Two side entrances exist, via the Iron Bridge and Rollins Wood, and via the railway bridge from Winnington Road and Grosvenor Road. Both are narrow unlit lanes, so bring a torch, and the Iron Bridge route closes off after 7pm.
