We checked 6 places to buy a real Christmas tree near Stockport, from Clayton Fold's fields to a Mellor charity sale, for 2026 prices. Updated November 2026.
There are six places to buy a real Christmas tree for a Stockport home in 2026, and this guide puts them in one place with prices, opening dates and who delivers. Most people land on Clayton Fold Christmas Tree Farm at Kettleshulme, where you choose a tree growing in the field and they cut it; Ivy Cottage Tree Farm in Wilmslow, which has grown trees since 1982; and the charity tree sale at Mellor Country House. Every entry was checked against the seller’s own website on 5 November 2026.
We have not bought a tree from any of these for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry says what the seller says it does on its own website. Two are tree farms just outside the borough, two are garden centres, one is a charity sale in Mellor and one is a grower that delivers.
Four of the six publish prices, so most entries carry them. Prices are the sellers’ own, as listed on 5 November; a garden centre’s online price can differ from the price in the yard, so check before a special trip.
Tree farms: choose one in the field
1. Clayton Fold Christmas Tree Farm, Kettleshulme
Clayton Fold has planted, grown and sold Christmas trees from its farm in the Peak District since 1994, on 17 acres near Whaley Bridge with about 30,000 trees grown in rotation. You can walk to the field and pick a tree still growing, which the farm cuts, carries and nets for you; choose from pre-cut trees in the barn; or reserve a growing tree and collect it nearer Christmas.
It grows Norway and Meyer spruce and Nordmann, Noble, Fraser and Lasiocarpa firs, pot-grown Nordmann and Norway spruce up to 5ft, and tall trees to 25ft.
Reserve Early weekends run on 7 and 8 November and 14 and 15 November, booking essential. Delivery to Stockport or Hazel Grove costs £30, from the last week of November.
Dogs are not allowed on the farm, and the farm asks for walking boots or wellies in the field.

2. Ivy Cottage Tree Farm, Wilmslow
Ivy Cottage is a family farm on Racecourse Road, Wilmslow, which has grown and sold Christmas trees since 1982 and calls itself one of the largest Christmas tree retailers in Cheshire; the third generation of the family now works on it. You can choose a Norway spruce or a fir growing in the plantation, label it and come back nearer Christmas, or buy pre-cut Nordmann and Fraser firs and Lodgepole pines.
Norway spruce comes potted, rootballed or cut. It stocks trees up to about 12ft and can get larger ones to order.
There is a Christmas shop with stands, lights and decorations, and an on-site florist makes fresh wreaths.
After Christmas you can bring the tree back: the farm shreds it into chippings for the next crop. Bring your own stand and it will trim the tree to fit.

How we chose
We looked for farms, garden centres and sales selling real trees in and around the Stockport borough, plus a grower that delivers to Stockport postcodes, and kept only those whose own websites we could read on 5 November 2026. We left out Hagg Farm at Higher Poynton, Hill Top Farm at Woodford and Poynton Fruit Farm, which East Cheshire Hospice lists as tree sellers but which have no website of their own we could find, and garden centres whose sites say nothing about real trees this year.
