Stockport’s pantomime is Jack and the Beanstalk at the Plaza on Mersey Square, running from Friday 4 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027. It is on sale now, and unlike almost everything else in the town’s Christmas calendar, every date and price is already published.

Todd Carty, of EastEnders and The Bill, plays Fleshcreep. The Plaza has billed the show as “Stockport’s giant family pantomime” and put it on sale early: the venue’s own announcement went out on 6 December 2025, a full year ahead, from general manager Ted Doan.

Two things about those numbers are worth reading twice. First, they already include a 10% booking fee, or a flat £3 on tickets over £27.50, for online and phone bookings. Second, there is no booking fee at all if you book in person at the Plaza, so walking to Mersey Square saves you roughly £2.45 on an adult seat. The traps in that grid, if you are booking around school holidays:

  • A Christmas Eve evening show. Most pantomimes stop at teatime on 24 December. The Plaza plays 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
  • New Year’s Eve is matinee only, and there is nothing on New Year’s Day.
  • Sunday and Boxing Day times are different: 1pm and 5.30pm rather than 2.30pm and 7.30pm. But the two January Sundays revert to 2.30pm.
  • Five dark dates inside the run: 9, 16 and 17 December, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
  • The first week is weighted to 10.30am weekday mornings, which are the quietest and easiest to get seats for.

Access

Three performances are BSL interpreted: Saturday 5 December at 7.30pm, and Thursday 10 December at 10.30am and 2.30pm. The interpreter is Andy Higgins, positioned on the left-hand side of the stage as you look at it.

The Plaza has not published a relaxed, captioned or audio-described performance for this run. If you need one, the box office is the place to ask.

Getting there

The Plaza is at Mersey Square, Stockport SK1 1SP, a few minutes’ walk from Stockport station and directly beside the bus interchange, which makes it one of the easiest venues in the borough to reach without a car.
