Weir Mill is throwing a free party under the viaduct on Saturday 3 October, and there is nothing to book. WEIR:LIVE runs from 11.30am to 10pm on Chestergate, across two stages and an outdoor party space, with every act on the bill drawn from Stockport.

Developer Capital&Centric announced the line-up on 8 September. Entry is free, with no tickets and no registration. There will be a suggested donation on the day, and the company says all of it goes to the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity.

Capital&Centric says every DJ, musician, artist, record label and creative on the bill is from the borough. Food and cocktails come from local traders, and the Beartown Brewery bus will be on site. The day is billed as family friendly and dog friendly.

Where it is

Weir Mill sits on Chestergate, directly beneath the Grade II* listed Stockport Viaduct, at SK3 0AG. The mill opened in August 2026 as a neighbourhood of 253 homes with independent food and drink units at ground level, and its first businesses opened over the summer.

The two outdoor stages sit in the squares built as part of the restoration. Stockport’s Mayoral Development Corporation, which is delivering the wider town centre programme, describes the new Weaver’s Square as a space made to host community events and live music (Stockport MDC).

Ant Powell, Head of Work and Social at Capital&Centric, said: “WEIR:LIVE isn’t a launch event, it’s a party for Stockport. We wanted every act, every artist and every creative involved to be from this town.”

Cllr Micheala Meikle, the council’s Cabinet Member for Economy, Regeneration and Skills, said: “Weir Mill was once a derelict landmark on the edge of our town centre. Now, it is a welcoming new neighbourhood, with attractive public squares, independent restaurants and spaces where families, friends and visitors can spend time.”
